Cassar ready to go ballistic

Written by Ballistic Drag Racing.

Rob Cassar - BB/CB Competiion Bike

Ballistic Drag Racing has not had the start we wanted in 2012. The Nationals in November was the first meeting back in BB/CB after our bad luck in March so I was a little bit nervous. We had done some passes at Heathcote Park and everything was okay so we went to the Nationals with some confidence.

The first pass was a 'no go' as we had first run issues. Back in the pits we found out what caused the issue – it was the rider so crew Paul slapped him around and got ready for the next run! The next run was fantastic. I had turned the timers down and the bike went its best 60Ft, a 1.12. It was like it was on rails, front wheel up and it was gone, untill the 1/8th mile when we had a nitrous back fire and then it was all over. We rolled through with a 9.30 at 50 mph.

When we got the bike back to the pits Paul, Rolly and I got to work lifting the head off and we found from the back fire we had crushed all the ring lands – that was the end of our Nationals campaign!

What does season 2012/13 have in store for Ballistic?

Next we head to Portland for the Aeroflow Sportsman Championship round on January 5th and 6th 2013 at South Coast Raceway. This will be a new type of meeting, 1/8th mile with an index of 5.08. We should have a chance of going some rounds with the best 1/8th mile ET for the bike being 4.77.

We will not be leaving any stone unturned. With a 6 bike field it should be fun. South Coast Raceway is a great facility with great traction. The organisation and the track is spot on and the staff make you feel right at home. So come down and enjoy some great racing and a fun day out.

Next meeting

In between races Ballistic Performance Parts will be trading at the Island Classic held in Phillip Island Victoria, from Jan 25th to the 27th. This is one of the biggest Vintage road racing events in Australia. We are also looking forward to a successful rest of the season.
