ANDRA flips championship season for 2015 and beyond
Australia's professional and sportsman national drag racing championships will revert to a financial year following the conclusion of the 2014 season.
ANDRA announced the change in its MotorMail email to members overnight, with the 2015 season beginning in January and culminating after just six months at the Winternationals in June.
From there, the championship will revert to a financial year, with the 2015/16 season ending in June 2016.
The change comes following a request by an overwhelming majority of tracks and the sport's stakeholders, the track locations and seasonal change in weather a factor in the decision.
While not announcing full details, ANDRA has advised its members the shortened 2015 season will include reduced points caps and no strict travel requirements.
The schedule flipped to a calendar year for the 2012/13 season, which resulted in a monster, and unpopular 18-month season.
