Longtime ANDRA & Calder Park Contributor Ian Smith Turns 70

 

Just Drag Racing wishes a very Happy 70th Birthday to long-time competitor Ian Smith, above centre.

Smith, who was also a former Chairman of ANDRA and meeting director for Calder Park during the halcyon days of the 1990s, celebrated his birthday with family and friends in Melbourne today, including his son, former Nationals and Australian Drag Racing Series Super Gas Champion Warren Smith, right, and former ANDRA CEO Tony Thornton, left.

A veteran of more than 50 years in drag racing, Smith also had a distinguished career in television production, including senior production and management roles at the Seven Network and the Sydney Olympic Broadcasting Organisation.

Smith will head to Adelaide with Warren this week to contest the Fuchs Springnationals at Adelaide International Raceway with their Nationals-winning Chev Beretta.
