Harris stays in fan favourite yellow
Damien Harris will keep his traditional yellow colour scheme on his Best Tractor Parts Top Fuel dragster when he joins Rapisarda Autosport International in just over a fortnight for the Santo's Cranes Super 3 Extreme Drag Race at Willowbank Raceway.
Harris decided to give fans the final say in what colour scheme they wanted to see – choosing between his familiar "Harris Yellow" colours and "Rapisarda Black", the favourite of the Rapisarda family.
Fans voted on both the ANDRA website and Facebook for their preffered option and after almost 500 votes the result was decided – Harris would be staying with yellow!
"Thanks to everyone for voting on what scheme they want, on the ANDRA website poll it was a resounding result for Harris Yellow while on Facebook Rapisarda Black was preferred – when we totalled the results though Harris Yellow came out on top," he said.
"Even though I will be driving for a new team in Rapisarda Autosport International, it will be great to have the familiarity of a yellow dragster and of course the continuing support of Best Tractor Parts."
Harris is no stranger to the Rapisarda Autosport International team, having raced with them previously in the USA on a number of occasions but the Santo's Cranes Super 3 Extreme Drag Race will mark the first time he has driven for them in Australia.
Harris, who finished second by a scant 1.5 points in the 2011/2012 ANDRA Top Fuel championship and has made the final of the last two championship rounds, is excited about three times world champion Larry Dixon's appearance at the event.
"I'm now really hanging out to get to Willowbank in just over a fortnight for the Santo's Cranes Super 3 Extreme Drag Race, especially with the news that three times world champion Larry Dixon is going to be my team mate for the event. It will be a fantastic experience," he said.
The Santo's Cranes Super 3 Extreme Drag Race features two individual championship rounds of ANDRA Top Fuel and Top Alcohol on each day, running the new three round format and providing fans with qualifying, racing and finals all wrapped up in a tight, four hour show.
The event runs from March 29-30.
