Benaraby reignites passion for Barbagallo
Pro Stock racer John Barbagallo has a renewed enthusiasm for the category as he heads to his first event at Gladstone’s Benaraby Raceway next weekend, the Benaraby Nationals.
The veteran racer says watching friends Aaron and Tyronne Tremayne battle for the title has given him an injection of excitement for the category.
“Aaron and Tyronne are great racers and friends of mine. Their heart and soul are into this category and the best thing about them running fast is that it has lit a fire in my belly,” he said.
“Now I have a goal again, to go faster so bring on Benaraby!”
Aside from another excuse to get out on track, Barbagallo sees this event as an ideal opportunity to promote the sport and the Pro Stock bracket in an area largely patronised by grass roots racers and fans.
“I haven’t been to Benaraby before but I have lots of customers who race there and I am very excited to go to Central Queensland with Pro Stock. It’s important to be at these events and meet the promoters and most importantly the fans,” Barbagallo said.
“If we want to increase our fan base, we need to be racing in these areas much more often. I’m sure the cars that have made the effort to be there will put on a great show for Gladstone.
The Benaraby Nationals will feature Pro Stock and the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship and takes place October 3-4.
