Porter to make final Pro Stock appearance in Benaraby
North Queesnlander Scott Porter will return to Pro Stock Racing for the final time at the ANDRA Drag Racing Series appearance at the Benaraby Nationals in Gladstone this weekend.
The West Mackay resident will give up his ride to American fiancé Grace Howell at the Australian Nationals but says he’s excited to compete in a National event so close to home before doing so.
“We are really looking forward to racing at Benaraby. There is such a large drag racing fan base around the Central Queensland so it will be a great to have a Pro Stock presence,” Porter said.
“The opportunity for ANDRA to host a race in the area will certainly tap into a new market and further solidify racing participation from a region that already yields many cars.
“I have heard that the track is very impressive for a regional track so I can't wait to see what it can take from Pro Stock. Last time I raced there was 10 years go in a Super Sedan car.”
The Benaraby Nationals serves as the penultimate round of the Australian Pro Stock Championship ahead of the Australian Nationals at Sydney Dragway, 31 October – 2 November, where Howell will take over the driving duties.
“While I'm excited to get back in the car to get a feel for it again, Grace is a better driver and I enjoy working on the car, tuning shocks and engines,” Porter said.
“She will be back in the car for Sydney which will be great as she hasn't raced there before. As for 2015, we can't wait to make a run for the Championship.”
The Benaraby Nationals featuring Pro Stock and the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship begins this Friday 3 and Saturday 4 October at Benaraby Raceway.
