Lamittina looks to Adelaide for championship upper hand
Former Top Fuel Champion Phil Lamattina has declared this weekend’s Fuchs Spring Nationals will be a make or break event for his 2014 title campaign.
Lamattina is currently eight points off leader Allan Dobson and believes it will be a tight battle in Adelaide.
“Both of those Santo’s Cranes cars will be hard to beat but our second Fuchs car will be on the pace too, no doubt about that,” said Lamattina.
Phil’s younger brother John will again drive the second Lamattina Top Fuel Racing dragster. John is currently fourth in the points and says Adelaide will be a challenge for the entire field.
“There are four cars that are locked in and they are probably the four quickest and fastest in the country at the moment, so whoever takes the win will have earned it,” John Lamittina said.
The Lamittina brothers competed at Mildura recently as a part of the Aeroflow Sportsman round held and used the weekend as a test ahead of the Spring Nationals.
“Mildura was great. We tried a few new things and we think that we have found some tricks to go even better in Adelaide,” Phil said.
“Hopefully we can bring home some silverware for the Lamattina trophy cabinet.”
The Fuchs Spring Nationals features Top Fuel, Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock Motorcycle and the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship this Saturday and Sunday 4-5 October at Adelaide International Raceway.
