Australian Nationals attracts 300 strong field
Australia’s longest running and prestigious Drag Racing event, the Australian Nationals, is on track to producing a record entry list with 330 teams already entered for next week's title finale.
The Australian Nationals is the final round of the 2014 ANDRA Championship season as well as the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing series – with several categories coming down to the wire.
General Manager at Sydney Dragway, Luke Smith, says the Nationals always creates a lot of interest and 2014 has drawn strong Group One fields.
“There has been some great feedback about this event and we are excited about the way the numbers are building. We already have over-subscribed fields for Top Fuel and Top Doorslammer,” Smith said.
“In my experience, some events just have a great vibe about them and the Australian Nationals is definitely one of them.”
A tight battle is anticipated in the Sportsman categories with Group Two Competition, Super Stock, Supercharged Outlaws, Modified, Modified Bike, Super Street, Junior Dragster and Super Gas titles all being decided in Sydney.
“I know the ANDRA Officials will have the calculators working overtime to work out our Championship winners at the end of this event,” Smith said.
“Whilst some of the Group One categories are close to sealed in terms of the Championship results, pretty much every Aeroflow title is up for grabs and the points system gives everyone a shot at the final round.”
The Australian Nationals runs Friday 31 October to Sunday 2 November at Sydney Dragway, with the annual ANDRA Championship dinner on Monday 3 November.
