Sydney Dragway was the place to be last weekend with the running of the 2012 ANDRA Drag Racing Nationals. Coming off a win in the 1st round of the championship, Darren Morgan Racing was in town to solidify their number 1 position in the point standings.

After a forgettable Saturday where they qualified 4th in a 7 car field, the team came out on Sunday and blasted through 3 rounds of racing to take the win and top mile-an-hour points for the event, collecting their second ANDRA Gold Christmas Tree for the season and extending the lead in the Top Fuel Championship.

"It was a great win," said Darren, "particularly after the troubles we had on Saturday. The boys did a magnificent job of servicing the car every run. I'm really proud of the crew - to take it up to and beat the best Australia has to offer."

According to Darren, "The track was tricky Saturday with the cold conditions but we knew it would play to our strengths when it warmed up on Sunday. We were extremely happy with the performance of the car on Sunday as one of the few teams to get to finish line under power. Our Champion spark plugs sure did the job."

On hand for the win were 3 special guests who contributed to the "300 MPH RIDE OF YOUR LIFE" campaign on crowd funding platform Indiegogo. As crew for a day, these lucky few individuals got to ride the emotional roller coaster that is Top Fuel drag racing.

Michael Myers and daughter Maria were 2 people who had an experience they will never forget. "This opportunity was one in a life time and to think the whole team treated Maria and I as one of them. This was truly amazing; you have an incredible bunch of guys... from the lowest of lows (the new engine) to winning the event, this really opened up my eyes as to how hard you all worked to achieve this result."

The next stop for Darren Morgan Racing will be round 3 of the ANDRA Top Fuel Championship at the Perth Motorplex from the 30th of November to the 1st of December.

"While we're down on major corporate support at the moment," explained Darren, "we're extremely grateful for the assistance we receive from our many associate partners, including KTrans WA, who have come on-board to assist with getting the team to the two Perth meetings. We made it to the final at the last event in Perth so this time around we'll be looking to go home a winner and keep racking up championship points."

DMR would like to thank its major partners Shannons Insurance, Victorian American Imports and Ktrans WA along with their many associate partners.
