Jannusch eyes local three from three at Warwick Dragway
Drayton's Nathan Jannusch is looking to achieve a trio of 'three from three' results when he heads to his home-track of Warwick Dragway next weekend for round three of the JP Racing Queensland Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series.
JP Eighth Mile Racing Series rounds feature a 'round-robin' format which sees each racer able to compete in three races per event (plus qualifying). When Jannusch competed at his home-track for the 2010 and 2011 series outings, he was able to net victory in all three rounds of racing each time.
Now, the Super Street racer who currently leads the Series points score for his race bracket is looking to keep that streak going with another three round wins next weekend.
"This is the third time I have taken part in the Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series, and it is great to be racing at my home track," said Jannusch.
"So far I have been able to deliver the goods each time this series has visited Warwick, and hopefully I will be able to keep the three wins from three rounds vibe going as I try and gather points for my series lead."
Jannusch has been drag racing since 18 years of age and says the Eighth Mile Series provides racers with an opportunity to compete at regional tracks while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere.
"The biggest thing about the Eighth Mile Series for me is the relaxed, easy-going atmosphere – all of the people running it and all of the competitors are just there to race, have a good time and enjoy having a chat, which makes for a really enjoyable race meeting," said Jannusch.
"I started out when at my very first job I started crewing for the son of my boss and soon decided I needed to give it a go myself, I have been involved in the sport ever since – I have to say thank you to my partner Allison who puts up with me working on the car and then going off racing all time!"
Round three of the JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series was originally scheduled to be held at Roma's Ironbark Raceway, with track upgrades necessitating the move to Warwick.
"Ironbark Raceway is a great facility so it is a bit of a shame to miss out on racing there, but at the same time, I am more than happy to be racing at my home track where I have plenty of experience under my belt!" said Jannusch.
"Hopefully we can put on a good show for the spectators and get some good results, Chris and John Loy and all of the crew out at Warwick Dragway put in so much effort and work to get these meets happening so it is always great when the events are a success."
JP Racing Eighth Mile Series organiser John Winterburn said the Series looks forward to returning to Ironbark Raceway in 2013 and wishes the Ironbark Raceway committee all the best with their upgrade.
"When Ironbark Raceway were able to secure a grant to upgrade their facility it soon became apparent it was just going to be too much pressure for them to finish the upgrade before the scheduled running of round three," said Winterburn.
"We are very thankful to Warwick Dragway for hosting next weekend's action – it is a great track and we are looking forward to a great day of racing!"
Time Trials start at 10.00am till 2.00pm with racing commencing at 2.30pm till around 6.00pm
