No less than four home-town racers are in the running for 2012 JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series glory as the countdown continues to its final round, to be held at Warwick Dragway on Saturday November 10.

Boosting their competiveness is the fact that the penultimate round of the popular grassroots series was also held at their home track, with track upgrades at the original scheduled venue seeing that event moved to Warwick, creating a series double-header for the facility.

Super Streeter Nathan Jannusch, cousins Matthew and Andrew Loy and drag racing patriarch Ian Ham will all be flying the flag for Warwick amongst an expected field of 110 racers in the final stand for the 2012 championship.

Jannusch is currently leading the points in the John William Auto Sales Super Street bracket, while Matthew Loy is nipping at the heels of the Diamond T Products Junior Dragster points leader and his cousin Andrew is chasing the third-placed Ham in the RD Williams Excavator Parts Modified category.

JP Racing Eighth Mile Series organiser John Winterburn said he was pleased to see a number of local racers in the trophy chase as the 2012 series draws to a close at Warwick Dragway.

"No matter what the series, it is always great to have some local representatives in the running at the final round for the spectators to really get behind," said Winterburn.

"With more than 100 racers set to take to the track in various title battles I think the final round on Saturday November 10 is going to provide quite a show for the spectators and a perfect end to a great year of eighth mile drag racing in Queensland.

"We can't thank Warwick Dragway enough for hosting us not only for this final round but also in August for our penultimate event, the track team is great to work with and we have really appreciated their support!"

The 2012 JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series is in its third year and the final round will feature racing from Diamond T Products Junior Dragster, Queensland Nameplate Group Modified Bike, John Williams Auto Sales Super Street, Ice Slushee Super Sedan, RD Williams Excavator Parts Modified and the FG Loy and Sons Earthmoving Old School bracket.
