VIDEO - Crampton fifth quickest in testing

Australian NHRA Top Fuel rookie, Richie Crampton ended the second official day of the Pro Warm Up at Palm Beach International Raceway, Florida, fourth quickest of the 10 cars in attendance.

After smoking and shaking the tyres yesterday, Crampton stepped up to a 3.808/323.97 in the Geico/Lucasi Oil Products Top Fuel dragster in the first session – only Antron Brown, Tony Schumacher, Shawn Langdon and Spencer Massey quicker.

"Running 3.80, which is obviously my personal best, is a great thing," Crampton told NHRA.com. "But I'm also happy that I got to run side-by-side against other cars because that's something that I hadn't had a chance to do before now. That is a big deal when you're trying to learn about staging one of these cars."

Sixteen-time champion, John Force and his Road To The Future Award-winning daughter, Brittany, ended the official test event in a special paired run between their John's Mustang Funny Car and Brittany's Top Fuel dragster.

Force recorded his quickest run of the weekend, 4.013 to also set the Funny Car mark for the day, while Brittany lifted by the 330ft mark.

Kalitta Motorsports' Del Worsham was second quickest in in his DHL Toyota Camry (4.014) while Robert Hight was close behind with a 4.019.

Crampton and the Morgan Lucas Racing team have been in Florida for five days with the 33-year-old testing both his new Geico/Lucas Oil Products car and team owner Morgan Lucas' Charlotte-winning 2013 car – both built in-house by MLR.

Crampton already has 18 runs under his belt this week with the MLR team expected to stay for further testing tomorrow before heading back to the team's Indianapolis base to prepare for the season-opening Circle K Winternationals at Pomona in two weeks.
