Track Champs Points Chase Heats Up

The second half of the Hidden Valley Drag Strip Track Championship Series is set to unleash this Saturday night and the points chase is starting to hot up.

The Super Sedan of Grant Rowe has a respectable 40 point lead over Steve Schruers and to date has been the only Super Sedan competitor to make it to two finals berths throughout the year. With four events still to go Rowe will have to be on his game to maintain his momentum.

Super Street and the Super Toyworld Junior Dragster brackets are a similar story with Shaun Boyer holding a 30 point lead over David Voysey in Super Street and new comer Darcy Muller 40 points clear of equal second place holders Travis Hagen and reigning champion, Jodie Coles.

Modified Bike sees Geoff Hawkins ahead of Ray Joy-Warde while Street Bike has Mark Tattingham on top of Darren Savage.

It's the Street car bracket that is going to be anyones game and while Bob Czerniawski and Ellen Musk have shown consistency at the Off Street events they are flooded with a bevy of other competitors in the Track Championships. Only 10 points separate the top 6 on the ladder after the unusual situation of having unique round winners at every event this year. While Greg Reed, Tony List and Ellen Musk all share equal first their position is far from secure.

At the other end of the spectrum in Outlaws, Dieter Herrmann only has to secure another win to wrap up the season. After a commanding three round wins over three events money is on Herrmann to take out the Championships and potentially event the Champion of Champions trophy for the highest number of accumulated points.

Several Top Doorslammer teams will also be testing ahead of Slamfest on the 17-18 August. Teams include Scott MacLean and Matt Abel and also newcomer to the Doorslammer scene, Peter Coles in the ex Ivan Skaramuca Chev Camaro.

Gates open this Saturday, 4th August, at 1:30pm with qualifying from 2:30pm and feature racing from 6:00pm.
