The deafening sounds of high horsepower drag racing returns to Hidden Valley Drag Strip for the 2013 Season Opener on Saturday 27 April and teams are sure to be using every round this year to find the perfect setup before the ultimate showdowns at the 2013 NT Titles and the ANDRA Drag Racing Series in July and August.

Headlining the night is a revitalised list of categories with the introduction of Top Sportsman racing for the first time at Hidden Valley.

The new Top Sportsman category is open to any car capable of running 8.99 seconds or faster over the standing quarter mile.

"With the increasing number of Super Sedan and Modified vehicles competing at Hidden Valley we were seeing wildly different speeds within the combined category" explained HVDRA President Jay Jukes.

"The concept of the new Top Sportsman category is to combine vehicles with a similar performance which ensures close tight racing for competitors and fans alike." Top Sportsman bridges the gap between traditional 10 second Super Sedans and the high horsepower 7 second Outlaws.

The general public is able to interact with the teams in the pit area with pit entry remaining free. Gates open at 1:30pm with qualifying getting underway at 2:30pm and feature racing commencing at 6:00pm.
