US Star Ron Capps to headline new Australian nitro tour
One of the biggest names in drag racing is heading south to race one of the sport's most iconic race cars, the L.A. Hooker Outlaw Nitro Funny Car, at Sydney Dragway November 23, 2013.
L.A. Hooker is a tribute to one of the first American funny cars to ever be brought to Australia, and was driven by some of the biggest names in the sport at the time - Jim White, Dale Pulde and Australian's Bob Shepherd and Graeme Cowin.
Capps will pilot the new iteration of the car in a proposed new nitro drag racing tour, masterminded by one of the original drivers and one of Australia's most famous drag racing names, Graeme Cowin.
"I can't wait to get down to Australia and race the L.A. Hooker," commented an excited Ron Capps.
"It's a great race car and I know the crew down there will put together a very strong combination. Graeme is one of the best in the business and I am sure this car will be one of the stars of the show," concluded the US-based star.
Cowin confirmed his involvement with Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars.
"For us, the Outlaw Nitro class will be a great way for us to take these amazing race cars to new tracks and places, in a new package that features non-stop entertainment, not just a drag racing event. It's about entertainment."
"When the show comes to town, it will feature all the cars that the fans will get to know, the merchandise, the on-track and off-track entertainment and much more."
"The way we run these events will be supported by a solid business and marketing plan and with sponsorship from Aeroflow and a number of other brands, we are happy with where we are heading and with ANDRA's support, we are ready to hit the ground running," smiled Cowin.
The inaugural event will be held at Sydney Dragway November 23, 2013.
