The 2013 ANDRA Drag Racing Series heads to Hidden Valley Drag Strip in mid-August and entries for the feature categories, Top Alcohol and Top Bike, are already looking strong.

Reigning Top Alcohol champion, Gary Phillips is a confirmed starter for the event and is holding an advantage over many in the field after winning the Slamfest finals at Hidden Valley in 2012 in his Lucas Oil Top Doorslammer.

15-time ANDRA champ Gary Phillips currently leads the Top Alcohol Championship 93 points clear of Australian record holder Steve Ham who has also confirmed his entry for the event along with a full field of 3500hp Funny Cars.

Ham reset the Australian record for the quickest elapsed time and fastest pass in May 2013 to 5.467 seconds at 265.38mph (427km/hr).

The fastest accelerating motorbikes in the world, Nitro powered Top Bikes will also be making a return with current championship leader, Chris Porter already locked in.

Rocketing down the quarter mile in 6 seconds at over 370km/hr can be a wild ride as seen by reigning champion Chris Matheson earlier this year at Sydney Dragway where he crashed at over 370km/hr resulting in a broken ankle.

Matheson is also rumoured to be entering the event.

This is the first time the new ANDRA Drag Racing Series will be hosted in Darwin and the first time ever for a full Top Alcohol championship round.

The ANDRA Drag Racing Series will be hosted on the 16 – 17 August at Hidden Valley Drag Strip.
