Hambridge to race Outlaw Nitro Funny Car in Sydney
One of the most marketable racers in Australian drag racing is returning to the cockpit as former ANDRA Top Alcohol record holder and current Top Fuel tuner, Aaron Hambridge steps aboard 'The Bandit' for the Aeroflow Nitro Funny Car Xtravaganza at Sydney Dragway November 23.
"I love tuning the 'fuel' car, don't get me wrong. I'm a racer as well though and the idea of getting into this car and racing 'nitro' is pretty cool."
Hambridge most recently piloted a Top Alcohol dragster, which was one of the categories most potent cars in the tightly contested category.
"It will be a challenge," continued Hambridge.
"This car will take some of what we do for Top Fuel car and some of what we did for the Top Alcohol car. I have to thank Graeme Cowin for the opportunity, it's going to be great. 'The Bandit' is one of the best-looking cars in the field, now we need to make it the fastest," smiled the Sydney-sider.
With Phil Lamattina also racing in Sydney, it makes for an interesting pairing should the two close friends meet in pairing.
"I can't wait to race Phil," laughed Hambridge.
"We are good mates and not only do I want to see him do well, I also want to beat him badly."
When quizzed about racing one of the very best in the sport, Hambridge was glowing.
"They just don't get any better than Ron Capps, it's just great that he will be here for this and you just know you'll have to be on your game when he's in the other lane."
The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car is a new category for Australian drag racing and is continuing to grow momentum as the field grows for its first event.
The inaugural Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car event will be held at Sydney Dragway November 23, 2013.
