No nerves for outlaw Begley
Nitro Funny Car driver Anthony Begley says he will have no nerves when he wheels Paul Shackleton's new 'Shack Attack' outlaw nitro Funny Car at Sydney Dragway on November 23.
It will be the first time Begley has been back at the Sydney track since experiencing a massive on-board fire in the Chemical Warfare Camaro Funny Car at the 2013 Nitro Champs in May.
"No nerves from me," Begley assured.
"I just can't wait to get back behind the wheel. It's a new car and we'll line up against some new drivers and combinations, how good is that? It's not often you get guys from all these different classes racing against each other – it's going to be great!"
American Ron Capps will join the largest field of outlaw nitro Funny Cars seen in this country, the NHRA star driving the LA Hooker Plymouth Arrow.
"Ron Capps is a hero to me and to be able to look across and see him lining up next to me is about as good as it gets."
Respected team owner Shackleton is putting the finishing touches to his new car and says the event will be a boost for the sport.
"[The outlaw Funny Car series] is a great thing for the sport and I am sure this is going to be a great event, we are happy to be a part of it and help put on a show for the fans," Shackleton said.
The inaugural Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Extravaganza will be held at Sydney Dragway next Saturday, November 23.
