Nitro SheriffThe Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars has a new star and it's not another new driver - it's a new car. Named the Nitro Sheriff, the wheelstanding funny car will be entertaining the crowd at the Sydney Dragway's US versus Australia event on November 23.

A fully custom built wheelstanding machine, the Nitro Sheriff takes the funny car form of the series' main show vehicles but adds a spectacular 'front wheels in the air' style as the car runs the entire 400m track with the car pointing towards the sky.

Sibling rivalry no obstacle for Bettes

11142013---Scott-Bettes-smlQueensland brother and sister Scott Bettes and Kelly Corbett were part of an Australian first at Sydney Dragway's Australian Nationals, 1-3 November 2013, when they lined up against each other in the final for the Modified class.

It is believed that it is the first time a brother and sister have competed against each other in a final round at a national event in the senior ranks.

Australian Nationals to be live streamed

ANDRA 40 Years LogoThe Australian Nationals at Sydney Dragway will be a spectacle not just at the track but also online with the event to be streamed from 12pm Saturday through to finals on Sunday.

As well as the cameras of the AVE-produced SBS Speedweek team linked in, the feed will also feature the 'big screen' interviews often only seen live at the event, with roaming cameras set up to add an extra element to the production.

ANDRA CEO Malcolm Bulley said both ANDRA and Sydney Dragway were excited about the potential of live streaming.

Stephen and Aaron Russell - Outlaw Nitro Funny CarThe Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car category continues to gain momentum with Victorian father and son combination, Stephen and Aaron Russell, taking delivery of their Mustang, imported from the USA.

The new car has features some high-tech equipment and will provide plenty of competition for the heavy-hitters in Australia's newest nitro class.

Currently named 'Scared Straight', the Mustang has already begun its transformation to 'The Russler'.

Whilst father Stephen has years of drag racing experience, Aaron is a former Junior Dragster and Modified racer and will be the taking the wheel of the Mustang.

Lucas Oils' Forbes strikes gold twice

Matt Forbes - Super GasBallarat drag racer Matt Forbes struck gold in Sydney twice on the weekend, claiming two major trophies on the same day.

The 39-year-old from Canadian Lakes won the Super Gas class at the country's oldest and most prestigious drag racing event, the Australian Nationals, his win also securing the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship.

While Brisbane-based Read, who has won four Top Fuel (1996, 2001, 2002 and 2009) and two (1992 and 1995) Top Alcohol Australian Nationals' titles, can not win this year's ANDRA Top Fuel championship series – he is currently in third place – another Nationals title is the Read Speed Racing/SuperCharge Batteries team goal.

Stage set for Willowbank deciders
