Fuchs to power a second LTFR Top Fuel car

Fuchs Lubricants has thrown their support behind a second Top Fuel carFuchs Lubricants has thrown their support behind a second Top Fuel car for the Lamattina Top Fuel Racing operation, with John Lamattina set to drive the team's new car at the Calder Park round as well as the season concluding Australian Nationals at Sydney Dragway.

The second car is going to feature some new chassis technology and will wear a new livery to compliment the 'chrome bullet' driven by older brother Phil.

Fuchs Lubricants Australasia's Managing Director Wayne Hoiles was please to make the announcement.

"Our brand position is 'Lubricants. Technology. People.' and with LTFR we have an opportunity to test our lubricants in one of the most extreme environments possible, implement the latest technology and in the LTFR team, we know we have the right people – it's a great match."

Peter LeahyThis August at Willowbank Raceway's two-day Cruzin Magazine Nostalgia Nationals, race fans can expect to get even more bang for their buck with the introduction of a Trans-Tasman Challenge to the popular event.

After five years of seeing Aussie racers jet over to New Zealand to compete, in 2013 with the help of Australian drag racing identity John Fleming no less than five Kiwi competitors will hit the Willowbank quarter-mile to take on five Aussie representatives as part of the 10-11 August event.

Trans-Tasman Challenge Coordinator Kristy Lange said the on-track rivalry is set to be exciting.

Scott MacLean - Top AlcoholThe 2013 NT Titles Presented by 7mate was a weekend of thrills and spills at Hidden Valley Drag Strip on Friday and Saturday nights.

Friday night saw the running of the annual NT Titles Burnout Competition with over 22 teams across 2 categories along with full fields of drag racing categories taking to the track for their qualifying sessions.

The Stand Still Racing V8/Blown class was dominated by the hard hitting Queensland entrants of Casper and SMKSHW who took out first and second place respectively but Territory local Matthew Harding managed to take out the third place podium finish in his VX Commodore.

It was a fiery finish for Greg Reed who ended his burnout a little hotter than he hoped for.

Zappia claims Slamfest title as rain dampens Palmyra finale

John Zappia - SlamfestJohn Zappia has claimed the 2013 Slamfest Series title at Palmyra Raceway this weekend as rain unfortunately saw the Mackay finale washed out just before the semi-finals were due to be run.

In front of a strong crowd West Australia's Zappia was awarded the Series win courtesy of his points lead heading into Saturday's final round of the 2013 series, claiming victory over 2012 Series winner and organiser Peter Kapiris (Victoria) with Queensland's Ben Bray in third.

"This is never how you want to see these things decided but at the same time I am very happy to have claimed the Slamfest Series title here in Mackay this weekend," said Zappia.

Chris Porter - Top BikeThe 2013 ANDRA Drag Racing Series heads to Hidden Valley Drag Strip in mid-August and entries for the feature categories, Top Alcohol and Top Bike, are already looking strong.

Reigning Top Alcohol champion, Gary Phillips is a confirmed starter for the event and is holding an advantage over many in the field after winning the Slamfest finals at Hidden Valley in 2012 in his Lucas Oil Top Doorslammer.

15-time ANDRA champ Gary Phillips currently leads the Top Alcohol Championship 93 points clear of Australian record holder Steve Ham who has also confirmed his entry for the event along with a full field of 3500hp Funny Cars.

Jason Simpson - Super StockFive reigning national drag racing champions will be putting on a show of their skills at Queensland's Benaraby Raceway this weekend for round eight of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship.

Among them will be Alexandra Hills' Jason Simpson, a national Super Stock champion and record holder, who will be aiming to show Benaraby that he means business when his Ford Capri, capable of accelerating to 250kmh in just over eight seconds, hits the track.

"It's my first time racing at Benaraby and I've heard from some teams that have been there that it's a good track with a fun atmosphere," he said. "We want to come out and support the local Queensland tracks and while we will enjoy it you're of course aiming to bring home the win as well."

Ben Bray - Palmyra SlamfestWet weather has forced the abandonment of the final round of the 2013 Slamfest Series, seeing last round winners' Team Bray Racing's hopes of claiming back-to-back successes in the northern end of Queensland dashed.

After emerging victorious at the Series' penultimate round in Gladstone earlier this month, TBR's Ben Bray was laying down the goods in Mackay on Saturday - securing his spot in the semi-final with a round one win over Bill Goonan - before the weather gods intervened and forced Series organisers to abandon the event.

The decision saw the title handed to points leader John Zappia, with 2012 Series winner Kapiris in second and Ben taking third position ahead of father Victor Bray.

Sportsman racers get ready to rumble as track championship nears home stretch

Simon Isherwood - Super GasThis Saturday 13 July 2013 will see the battle for Willowbank Raceway's 2012/2013 Track Championship once again under way, with just three rounds left to run including November's finale event.

Taking to the track this Saturday will be racers from the Knijff Earthmoving Modified, Powercruise Super Sedan, Prime Signs/Speed Elec Super Street, Gasoline Alley Harley-Davidson Modified Bike, Donnelly Blasting Services Junior Dragster and Super Gas brackets.

Previous events point to a strong entry list of up to 100 racers on-track, as the racers look to shore up their championship positions as November's finale beckons.
