Young Aussie Steve Easton goes Nostalgia Nitro (Photo courtesy Darrell Conrad)Queenslander Steve Easton is set to steer Bob Godfrey's "Burn'n Money" Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car at the 2013 NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion in October.

For the 29 year old Aussie it's a dream come true after coming to the US in December 2011 to live and work full time. "I've vacationed here twice a year since 2007. I've spent plenty of time at Bakersfield and started out by crewing on a Nostalgia Nitro funny Car for fun," said Steve.

"A good friend of mine Dennis Holtz encouraged me to try for a full time gig on a Nitro Funny Car. So when I came back in 2011, I headed to Vegas to speak with a few crew chiefs and after the interview process came away with a job with John Force Racing."

Back in April 2013 Just Drag Racing reported that Sunset Strip was closing for repairs to fix the damage flooding had caused to the track.

Intentions were for the track to be ready by June 30th. Unfortunately the repairs didn't go to plan when the asphalt was lifted off the track and the contractors found a substantial amount of what is known as "reactive clay".

Reactive clay swells on wetting and shrinks on drying causing 70 to 90 millimetres of movement and would have a significant impact on the new racing surface.

"When the original contractors pulled out everything came to a screeching halt until a decision could be made about how to proceed," explained Jenni Gledhill, Infrastructure Support Officer at the Mildura Rural City Council.

Peter Kapiris is in prime position to earn a second ANDRA Top Doorslammer championship and the Lady Daly Hotel Springnationals at Adelaide International Raceway from September 20 to 21 could be the point where it is wrapped up.

Kapiris is currently 96 points ahead of his nearest rival, five times champion John Zappia. Also still in the hunt is six times champion Victor Bray.

If Kapiris can stretch his lead to over 118 points then the championship will be entirely his, while anything over a lead of 98 points means he just has to make a qualifying pass at the season-ending Australian Nationals in Sydney to seal the deal.

In less than three weeks (21 and 22 September 2013) Queensland's premier drag racing facility Willowbank Raceway will play host once again to the annual Brisbane Jamboree – Australia's premier import car and lifestyle event.

Headlining this year's 23rd birthday for the popular automotive event will be two world-beaters which will be sure to have an expected 10,000 spectators on the edge of their seats.

Scott Porter and his Nissan Infinity currently hold the accolades of the quickest (6.35s) and fastest (235mph) Nissan in the world, while George Rehayem of the prestigious PAC Performance outfit boasts the world's quickest (6.47s) and fastest (222mph) rotary in the world.

ANDRA Drag Racing is back at Calder Park for the first time in over 12 years... and this time it’s for real.

When the venue changed hands late last year, attempts to get Drag Racing kick-started in Victoria looked like they had stalled yet again.

However, the change in ownership has been a positive with an agreement reached between the new owners and ANDRA/Peter Pisalidis to hire the facility for Drag Racing events.

Under the new arrangements, the first competition event is locked in for the 19^th of October and the Fuchs Nitro Thunder will be headlined by Top Fuel, Top Bike and Pro Stock Motorcycle. Numbers are capped at 170 entries to make sure this first event runs as smoothly as possible.

With all the boxes ticked, ANDRA joined forces with Peter Pisalidis to promote the events at Calder Park as joint venture partners, with both bringing relevant expertise to the table.
