Despite searing temperatures in the second round of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship at the Perth Motorplex, six new national records have been ratified by ANDRA.
Three competitors set both ends of their respective quarter-mile national records: Rob Pilkington, Jake and Jamie Chaisty, and Brenton Baxter.
Competiting in the supercharged Top Comp bracket, Pilkington set both ends of the AA Funny Car record to 5.842 seconds and 245.23 mph, while Jake Chaisty set the H/MSA ET record to 9.462 seconds, and raised the speed to 141.50 mph on his way to the Super Comp victory in his immaculate, wheelstanding VX Holden Commodore Super Stocker.
Baxter (A/MR) recorded an 8.420 second run at 166.97 mph in the Modified class.
The next round of the ASDRC is the 43rd annual Westernationals, again at the Perth Motorplex, on the February 28-March 2 weekend.
