Australia’s Shane Tucker will face Dave Connolly in the first round of eliminations for the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals at Dallas’ Texas Motorplex after the Charlotte event was postponed due to rain.
The NHRA called the event off when conditions deteriorated at zMAX Dragway and instead will hold all eliminations in Texas ahead of the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals this weekend.
Tucker had qualified 14th and feels the postponement has given him a better chance of success.
“In hindsight, it's probably best for us that they moved the event to Dallas,” Tucker said.
“As the first pair of Pro Stock cars we ran to the car scrambling to move weight in the car. The left lane was definitely not the lane to be in.
“We knew the starting line was really good so we made some changes in the staging lines, moving some weight to the rear of the car because we thought we miscalculated the gear ratios.”
The next Countdown to the Championship event takes place this in Dallas, 18-21 September.
