Willowbank Raceway appoints Leahy to board

Posted in News

Long-time racer and importer Greg Leahy has been announced as the newest member of the Willowbank Raceway Board, filling the spot vacated by Steve Reed earlier this month.

Leahy joins the board as a successful businessman, the owner of Geezer’s Imports, and is well known throughout the drag racing community as the son of nostalgia drag racing stalwart Roly Leahy.

President of Willowbank Raceway, Tony Wedlock, said Leahy would bring a sound business perspective and impressive skillset to the boardroom table.

“While Greg is a racer and certainly understands the perspective, challenges and needs of the racing community, he is also an accomplished business owner,” Wedlock said.

“This sees him in possession of a strong broad-based business skillset which is exceptionally valuable to us as a Board, and we are certainly looking forward to working with Greg,”

Leahy said the appointment he is looking forward to commencing the position in the new year.

“I feel honoured that my peers have seen fit to bring me onto the Board and give me this important task of helping to run the facility which means so much to all of us,” Leahy said.

“There will be a lot for me to learn, but I am looking forward to hitting the ground running and to getting my first year on the Board under my belt in 2015.”
