Chris Stipanovich - Nitro Funny CarChris Stipanovich and his Nitro Funny Car are coming to Adelaide on December the 8th

If you live in Adelaide you are about to be subject to a long overdue awesome spectacle. On December 8th Nitro Funny Cars Australia Pty Ltd is bringing a four car field of Nitro Burning Funny Cars to Adelaide International Raceway. Nitro Funny Cars are one of the fastest cars on the planet reaching speeds in excess of 400 kilometres per hour in 200 metres and 500 kilometres per hour in 400 metres. These cars can have around 7000 to 8000 horsepower. The spectator feels the ground move when these cars rocket past them.

The teams that make up that four car field will comprise of Chris & Kylie Stipanovich with their Spanblast/Hi-Tech Oils Pontiac Funny Car. Chris is the son of Ed Stipanovich who is a name involved in drag racing from the 70's and 80's including the Sindicate Funny Car.

Rodney Bailey/Anthony Begley will be in attendance in the Chemical Warfare/Rad Motorcycle Shock Repairs Camaro Funny Car. Rodney has been the stalwart of the current crop of Funny Car competitors along with Alan & Cheryl Greene from Western Australia they have almost single handedly kept this product alive.

Ricky & Christine Steffens will be bringing the Lockyer Engine Reconditioners 'Croc' Pontiac Funny Car. Ricky originally drove the Nitro Freak Funny Car which was the second of the Rodney Bailey stable of cars and now Christine stepped up to become the only female driver in any Nitro Class currently running in Australia. Christine only obtained her licence on the 21st of January 2012 after winning back to back Supercharged Outlaw Australian Championships in 2009 and 2010 and this Adelaide event is her second formal racing event .

We also have the added bonus of an international racer in the form of Leif Helander from Sweden who will be driving Rodney Bailey's second Camaro Funny Car. Although Leif is from Sweden he has raced in NHRA at Dallas and the O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals in 2009. Leif has been involved in the sport of drag racing since 1976 so brings a wealth of experience to the track.

Rino & Kirsty from Racingonn Promotions have made it possible for this event to happen and they have done so much to bring the sport back to SA so we are all trying to give them the highest level of support.

The Funny Cars will be on display at the Rundle Mall on Thursday the 6th of December with some of the drivers and crew around to chat so come over and say hello. They will then be hitting the Adelaide International Raceway on Saturday the 8th of December.

See you there!
