Frank Intini competing for a cause

Frank Intini - Top AlcoholThe resurgence of Adelaide International Raceway has brought many South Australian drag racers back into the sport, the latest being Top Alcohol dragster driver Frank Intini.

Intini will be campaigning his dragster at the Aeroflow Summer Speedfest this weekend, February 23 and 24, bringing along a special cause for the ride.

The Duchenne Foundation (www.duchennefoundation.org.au) will take pride of place on the side of Intini's 350kmh race car, spreading the message about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which affects many young people Australia wide.

Team Bray Racing South Coast Raceway - Slamfest 2013Team Bray Racing hopes to be poised to strike heading into the third round of the ANDRA Top Doorslammer title chase in Perth (1 and 2 March) following a satisfying Slamfest Series appearance in Portland at the weekend.

The second round of the 2013 Slamfest Series saw a flurry of trades for the Portland track record in front of a 3000-strong crowd, with Victor Bray just one of three drivers to rewrite the record books across the day on his way to a semi-final appearance.

"In the first round of racing I was able to reset the track record with a 4.078 second effort, backed up by my qualifying time of 4.160 seconds. That took the record off Russell Pavey, who had reset the track record to 4.145 seconds during his qualifying run," said Victor Bray.

Just 400km from where we live, we drove on a 40 deg day which was not pleasant. We arrived at the track around 8pm, unloaded and got set for racing the next day.

Wayne Price - Top AlcoholMelbourne baker Wayne Price will be making his first appearance at Adelaide International Raceway for next weekend's Aeroflow Summer Speedfest, which features the third round of the ANDRA Top Alcohol Championship.

Price's 400kmh Funny Car has been on the improve in recent events, reaching the semi finals at the Australian Nationals at Sydney Dragway and setting a new personal best time of 5.68 seconds for the quarter mile (402m).

With the unique Adelaide event being run over 1000 feet, Price said after getting a feel for the track he would like to begin to see what it can hold.

"I'd like to think we can run into the fours over 1000 feet but not having been on the track before I am not 100% on how the car will react to the Adelaide surface," he said.

TBR cross-country trip to Perth kicks off with Portland stop

Victor Bray - Heathcote Park Raceway SlamfestTeam Bray Racing has headed off from its Kallangur base this morning, bound for the Perth Motorplex's Westernationals (1 and 2 March 2013).

Before they get there however, the TBR train will make a scheduled stop at Portland's South Coast Raceway in Victoria for round two of the 2013 Slamfest Series.

Now entering its fourth year, the Slamfest Series sees Top Doorslammer racers from around the country competing across the eighth-mile distance at Australia's regional tracks.

Once in Portland, the father and son team of Victor and Ben Bray will be joined by a full field of Top Doorslammer competitors including Sean Mifsud, Grant O'Rourke, Russ Pavey, Marcus Chambers, Peter Kapiris, John Zappia and Pat Carbone.

Rick Gauci - Top AlcoholTop Alcohol returns to Adelaide International Raceway for the Aeroflow Summer Speedfest in just under two weeks and carrying the Aeroflow flag in a big way will be Sydney driver Rick Gauci.

Since the last time Gauci raced at Adelaide in April 2012, he has upgraded the his Ford Mustang Funny Car with better ignition control as he seeks to tame the 1000 feet distance - unique to the Adelaide strip.

"We had traction issues last time as we didn't have an ignition system that allowed us to take timing out and that saw us getting massively sideways," he said. "Now we can apply the power gradually and take advantage of the track where it is good but be prepared for parts where it is tricky."
