01042014---Crash-thumbUPDATED WITH EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MICK MAHONEY - Supercharged Outlaws competitor Mick Mahoney was released from Portland Hospital late last night with only "bumps and bruises" following his huge accident at Fuchs South Coast Raceway.

Mahoney's racing and business partner, Phil Read praised the safety of their blown Ford Capri, giving the "thumbs up" to chassis builder Lance Walker and the work of track and safety officials.

Sibling rivalry no obstacle for Bettes

11142013---Scott-Bettes-smlQueensland brother and sister Scott Bettes and Kelly Corbett were part of an Australian first at Sydney Dragway's Australian Nationals, 1-3 November 2013, when they lined up against each other in the final for the Modified class.

It is believed that it is the first time a brother and sister have competed against each other in a final round at a national event in the senior ranks.

UPDATED - Qualifying for the first round of ANDRA's Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championships, being held at Fuchs South Coast Raceway this weekend, is now underway after having earlier been delayed due to rain.

Intermittent rains peppered the Portland area but the Bureau of Meteorology radar showed little further rain approaching and conditions improved.

Matt Forbes - Super GasBallarat drag racer Matt Forbes struck gold in Sydney twice on the weekend, claiming two major trophies on the same day.

The 39-year-old from Canadian Lakes won the Super Gas class at the country's oldest and most prestigious drag racing event, the Australian Nationals, his win also securing the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship.

JP RacingThe JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series Grand Final at Benaraby Raceway was shaping up to be a very good event with 100 racers but the sport's nemisis - rain - began falling after qualifying and the event was cancelled.

Series Winners were determined as per the Eighth Mile Rain Out Policy and all brackets with the exception of FG Loy & Sons Earthmoving Old School which Lyn Stewart won by a modest margin were very tight.
