Scott White chasing turn around in Adelaide

Written by Jay Jukes. Posted in Professional

Scott White - Pro Stock BikeFor Darwin drag racer Scott White, contesting the ANDRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship has been no easy street.

White is located in the Top End of the Northern Territory and as such has to travel long distances to contest the championship. A trip to Sydney with the 300kmh motorcycle can take up to four days.

Then there is the frustration of dealing with one of drag racing's most finicky vehicles. White opened his season in difficult fashion, with parts failures holding back the AMPAC Advanced Warning Systems team from showing its true potential.

Recent testing at Portland's South Coast Raceway in Victoria produced a better result, with White setting a new track record for bikes at 4.729 seconds on the eighth mile venue.

Adelaide's Bruno Romeo had a stellar event as he top qualified and then won the event. Matty Forbes qualified second and once again was the bridesmaid with another runner-up finish but this was enough to give him the series lead.

Newcomer to the series Danny Buccella had the best average qualifying ET with an average of seven thousandths under the 6.30 index followed by Matt with a fifteen hundredths over average.

The MSCN awards where raffled with the South Australians cleaning up as Lance Larcombe went home with the tyre gauge and Danny Bucella with the Brad Penn oil.

The second round of the 2013 Slamfest Series saw a flurry of trades for the Portland track record in front of a 3000-strong crowd, with Victor Bray just one of three drivers to rewrite the record books across the day on his way to a semi-final appearance.

"In the first round of racing I was able to reset the track record with a 4.078 second effort, backed up by my qualifying time of 4.160 seconds. That took the record off Russell Pavey, who had reset the track record to 4.145 seconds during his qualifying run," said Victor Bray.

Wayne Price - Top AlcoholMelbourne baker Wayne Price will be making his first appearance at Adelaide International Raceway for next weekend's Aeroflow Summer Speedfest, which features the third round of the ANDRA Top Alcohol Championship.

Price's 400kmh Funny Car has been on the improve in recent events, reaching the semi finals at the Australian Nationals at Sydney Dragway and setting a new personal best time of 5.68 seconds for the quarter mile (402m).

With the unique Adelaide event being run over 1000 feet, Price said after getting a feel for the track he would like to begin to see what it can hold.

"I'd like to think we can run into the fours over 1000 feet but not having been on the track before I am not 100% on how the car will react to the Adelaide surface," he said.
